HEPATITIS C INFECTION IN PATIENTS TREATED WITH CONTAMINATED IMMUNE GLOBULIN

Key words: Hepatitis, HCV, Immunoglobulin

Recently HCV infection has been reported in association with administration of parenteral immunoglobulin. In some patients HCV infection was associated with severe, acute course, attributable to host factors, such as immunodeficiencies. Many of these patients developed chronic infection. Although this is a rare event, paediatricians schould be aware of this risk, carry on an active surveillance and notify all suspect cases.
