Casi indimenticabili
Neuropsichiatria Infantile, IRCCS Materno-Infantile “Burlo Garofolo”, Trieste
Key words: Conduct disorder, Substance abuse, Adolescence
Claudia, an adolescent with conduct disorder and substance abuse, is admitted to an ‘open’ paediatric ward. In just 20 days, she runs away 17 times to return to dangerous and degraded environments. The case highlights a dramatic regulatory gap: doctors lack the legal authority to physically restrain her, while her parents delegate control to institutions without truly cooperating. The hospitalisation ends in failure due to the inability to protect the girl, who years later continues a life of instability and violence
