Key words: Infant and child nutrition, Health education
Nutrition is, paradoxically, a major health problem in Italy as in other industrialized countries. Infant and child diet is usually unbalanced, improperly rich in saturated fats and proteins with a low fiber content. It is very difficult to face the negative influences of food industries on the innate diet control and, particularly, on traditional diet habits. However, an increased positive interaction between families, general paediatricians and school operators could ameliorate the quality of the diet of Italian children.
