Pityriasis lichenoides is a spectrum of dermatologic inflammatory conditions with an acute or chronic course. The characteristic lesions are multiple erythematous macules that evolve in inflammatory papules presenting at different evolutive stages, with a symmetrical involvement of arms, hands and feet. This condition may also present with a severe phenotype, namely Febrile Ulceronecrotic Mucha-Habermann Disease. The pathogenesis is unclear: it might be an inflammatory response with a dyscrasia of T cells and immunocomplex deposits or pro-inflammatory pathways. The clinical course might be remitting-relapsing or self-limiting; however, more severe cases may require treatment with topical corticosteroids or phototherapy.
La pitiriasi lichenoide è uno spettro di condizioni infiammatorie dermatologiche a decorso acuto o cronico. Le lesioni caratteristiche sono molteplici macule eritematose che evolvono in papule infiammatorie che si presentano a diversi stadi evolutivi, con un coinvolgimento simmetrico di braccia, mani e piedi. Questa condizione può anche presentarsi con un fenotipo grave, ovvero la malattia ulceronecrotica febbrile di Mucha-Habermann. La patogenesi non è chiara: potrebbe trattarsi di una risposta infiammatoria con discrasia delle cellule T e depositi di immunocomplessi o vie pro-infiammatorie. Il decorso clinico può essere remittente-recidivante o autolimitante; tuttavia, i casi più gravi possono richiedere un trattamento con corticosteroidi topici o fototerapia.
