The popularity of orthodontic devices masks the difficulties encountered in their use: the need for constant and continued engagement and possible side-effects, which may occasionally be serious. Besides helping the dentist in early diagnosis of malocclusions, the role of the pediatrician is to ascertain the correct treatments relative to the growth of the maxilla and mandibole, by using simple non-invasive orthodontic devices which are acceptable to the child and his family.
