The pGALS is a simple and effective assessment tool used to identify school-aged children with musculoskeletal pathology. The approach is aimed at the non-specialist in paediatric musculoskeletal medicine as a basic clinical tool to be used in conjunction with the knowledge of normal major motor milestones and features that warrant urgent referral (red flags). The pGALS, which has already been validated in different clinical contexts, is useful for the early recognition and a prompt and correct referral of children with musculoskeletal disease.
